Winning a Silver Medal at the World Robot Olympiad 2019
In 2019 I participated in the World Robot Olympiad for the second time with my team “Cassapeia Senior”. We won the regional competition, placed second in the german final, and hence qualified for the world final in Hungary.
In our category Regular Senior, the main challenge is to program a robot to solve tasks on a playing field in the shortest amount of time possible. We worked on this part for more than six months and perfected our robot to get all the points in only about 70 seconds (check out this video). In addition to the main challenge, a surprise rule was announced on the second day of the competition. The playing field and the objects stayed the same, while tasks changed significantly. You can find a video of it here.
We were able to win the second-day challenge and place second in the overall ranking. With this, we were the first german team to win a silver medal in the Regular Category.
